Kidney Care Centre Project
A year ago we were asking for your support and donations to help us build a Kidney Hospital in Thathi Gujran, near Kala Gujran, Jhelum. We held various fundraising events and asked our supporters to continue to donate to begin the project. Although 1200 square yards of land had already been kindly donated by a generous local farmer, the late Chaudhry Mohammad Hussain, there was still a lot more to be achieved. After touring the country visiting mosques and summer fairs and a highly successful live TV appeal on ARY in late September 2009 the final development stages were underway.
By the grace of Allah and with your kind donations and support, we are delighted to inform you that Rehmat Foundation has completed the ground floor and since December 2008, it is the only KIDNEY CARE CENTRE and General Outpatients clinic within a 168 mile radius to ofer free kidney dialysis for the poor. The hospital is equipped with six Swedish made Gambro Kidney Dialysis machines, each costing between £8000 and £13,000. This is the first hospital of its kind in the area to offer completely free kidney treatment to those that cannot afford even the basic medical care that all of us take for granted. clock, treating patients from surrounding villages including: Kharian, Dina, Rathian, Sarai Alamgir and Kala Gujran.
So far, over 200 successful treatments have been made. The Kidney Centre is currently running at maximum capacity working round the clock and it is clear that more dialysis machines are required. We are now eager to move on to the final stage of this project, the 1st Floor of the building which will facilitate a general outpatients clinic to treat other illnesses. We are urgently appealing for your help to raise £180,000. The funds will go towards purchasing X-Ray machines, Ultrasound equipment, more ambulances and further Kidney Dialysis machines. We also intend to build a laboratory within the building Inshallah and the remaining funds will go towards paying for future Kidney treatments.
Inshallah, to help raise these funds Rehmat Foundation will be Live on TV twice this Ramadhan, two Live Television Appeals in September 2009:
- On Sunday 13th September, Maz Alam will host a live appeal on PTV PRIME TV at 9pm - Sky Channel 792.
- On Friday 18th September,, Rehan Babar will once again be hosting an appeal on ARY TV at 9pm.
